As we all know, the Windows server system partition often uses up its space. Various files are stored in it (like desktop files, temporary documents, Windows OS updates, and procedures which must be kept in system partition). Have you ever encountered with such a situation where the very partition is nearly full? If the answer is yes, then do you take actions when this kind of awkward situation happens? Maybe many users will delete some files or data to release memory. Actually, it is not well worth trying. With the rapid development of computer technology, we can enlarge capacity of server system partition to solve the problem of insufficient disk space.
There are two ways to reach the goal of increasing server partition space:
1. Rely on Windows built-in disk management tool. But only when there is unallocated space right behind the server system partition, you can extend its space. One more thing, the specified partition must be with NTFS file system.
2. Resort to third party partition manager. Just imagine that if there isn’t that kind of unallocated space or the target partition is the one with FAT, what can you do? Here the third party partition magic can remedy the limitations.
There are so many partition managers in the market, so users often get puzzled about which one they should adopt. In consideration of data security and usability, I’d like to recommend the MiniTool Partition Wizard Server Edition to you.
Please download and install the program into your computer. Then, I will show you the step by step operations.
Firstly, open the partitioning tool to enter its main interface. Then you will see all information in the disk. Choose the system partition and click “Extend Partition” button.
Secondly, take free space from other partition( existing or unallocated space) on the same disk to enlarge capacity of server partition, and then drag sliding bar to the value you want to take. Then, click “OK” to return to the main interface.
Here we can preview that the server system partition has been increased.
Finally, with a click on “Apply”, all operations will be executed. Once the application is fulfilled, the process of enlarging server system partition capacity also comes to an end.
As we can see from the screenshot above, MiniTool Partition Wizard Server Edition can also do many other operations (Move/Resize Partition, Extend Partition, Merge Partition and so on). Don’t forget to try some of these functions in the future.
