With the appearance of GPT disk, computer users feel more convenient in the using of Windows 7. However, they are puzzled by some new problems now. They find that it is not easy to adjust the size of GPT partition. There are limitations in Window built in disk management utility. It is true that the tool provides two functions (“Extend Partition” and “Shrink Partition”) to resize partition. However, these two functions only work to partition with NTFS file system. What’s more, there must be unallocated space right behind the specified partition, then you can extend partition. Many users may need third party partition manager to do the job. In the market, most partition managers can not do partition management in GPT disk. Fortunately, the professional company MiniTool Solution Ltd. has published a partition manager – MiniTool Partition Wizard – which will do you a favor in the GPT partition management. It is free and safe for computer users.
Before resizing GPT partition with this freeware, users should download it in the downloading center first.
Open the partition manager, and then you will get the main interface.
1. Choose the specified partition (here I’d like to take I: as an example) in GPT disk and click “Move/Resize Partition” button to go to the next window.
2. Drag the black triangle on each edges of the bar to adjust the size of GPT partition. Then click “OK” button to return to the main interface.
Here, we can preview all operations in the screenshot above. And the capacity of I: has been enlarged into 85.87GB(the original capacity is 70.63GB).
3. Click on “Apply” button, and then these pending operations will be executed.
Finally, MiniTool Partition Wizard has successfully done the work of resizing GPT partition in Windows.
