Expand Windows 8 Partition

Situation: I’m attempting to expand Windows 8 partition on my computer so I set myself some unallocated space. However, when trying expanding the partition C:, I only find that the “Extend Volume” feature is grayed out. Sorry if there’s a really obvious solution I’m missing but I’ve been trying for a few days now and I can’t get it working.

Here’s an image of what I mean.

It is well known that the Windows 8 brings us many conveniences. Nevertheless, because of its multiple functions, it also needs more disk space in the process of using. Therefore, many people may find that the specified partition is running out of its space. To get rid of this trouble, some users may resort to windows built in disk management tool. Unfortunately, this utility has many limitations (only when the unallocated space stands right behind the target partition, one can increase its size; the file system of the target partition should be with NTFS). That is to say, users may not increase the size of Windows 8 partition in the tool. Well then, turning to third party partition manager will be a wise movement. As for partition manager, the powerful MiniTool Partition Wizard is worth trying. It can do users a favor when enlarging partition on Windows 8 or any other Windows OS. Just with a few clicks, the whole process will be done.

Expand Windows 8 Partition with Professional Partition Magic

Before doing any operations, users should download the freeware in the download center.

After installation, please launch the software to get into the main interface.

1. Select the target partition, and then click “Extend Partition” to get into the next interface.

2. Increase the size of specified partition by taking free space from other partitions on the same disk. After that, click “OK” to go back to the main interface.

3. Click “Apply” to execute all changes. Then please wait until the partition manager thoroughly completes the task of expanding Windows 8 partition.

Just as what you can see from the screenshots above, people can increase the partition size in several steps. One more thing, MiniTool Partition Wizard can also do other partition management operations (like “Move/Resize Partition”, “Merge Partition”, “Split Partition”, etc).
